My first home

I was born in Dallas Texas in March 1996, one of a litter of twelve. Both my parents Buster and Belle, and my sister BJ from their first litter, still live with my human mom's cousins (Mark & Kelley). My mom was waiting anxiously for me, impatient for me to be old enough to come and live with her. Mark and Kelley drove all the way from Texas to Alabama to help build a fence for my new yard and to check out my new accommodations.

In May my mom flew out to choose a new puppy (me!!) for her new home. Of course, since I was the cutest, friendliest, and she tells me, chubbiest, she just had to have me. Before mom decided that I waddled like a bear cub, (hence my name) my name was Tuffy (Now my name is Buster's Honey Bear) . I pretty much kept all of my brothers and sisters in line and organized all our activities, which basically consisted of climbing in our water bowl to splash all the water out and shredding all the newspaper that Kelley put down. Of course, mom didn't actually realize that she had chosen the leader of the pack, I was sneaky and pretended to be a little submissive just to make sure she chose me (she was sure she had picked out the beta dog, not the alpha dog!).

Going to my new home in Mobile was my first airplane ride. Do I qualify for miles?? Mom had brought a little puppy kennel so that I could ride with her in the plane under her seat, but she had no clue how big I would be (all seven pounds!). That kennel only came up to my shoulder, there was no way I was getting in it! On the way to the airport we bought a bigger one, but that meant that I had to ride in the cargo hold instead. I tried to tell my new mom that I didn't want to leave her at the gate. She tells me that the whole airport could hear me protesting.

When I got to my new home I was relieved to be on the ground again! I missed my brothers and sisters, but made a new friend right away. His name was Cody; he is a yellow lab (gotta run with the big dogs). We played every day in our court, chasing the tennis ball and wrestling. One day Cody and I even went to the beach with our Moms. I chased the waves and learned all about chasing sticks from Cody. Stick is still my favorite game!

I learned to swim in my own little pool, and sometimes I even got into the big people pool. I tried the jacu
