The Windy City

Living in Chicago made a big change in my life. First of all, mom had to find a place that would take a big dog. We moved to Mallard Cove. Everyone there had a dog, but most of them (the people) were not very friendly. I did however make two special friends: my first girlfriend, Patches and my best friend, Buddy. We would get to play from time to time, but I missed my yard. I tried to find things to do to entertain myself, like tasting the rental couch ( I even unzipped the cushions first before eating all the stuffing out-it was really cool, it looked like snow inside), eating the carpeting and all the carpet pad and all her magazines (the shiny paper is always tastier). This lead to Club Crate ! Luckily, it was the same crate I used to travel so at least it was a familiar spot. ....But read about other bad dogs who have me beat!

Chicago had new things to discover. The snow was great. My favorite thing was to snuffle in it to see what I could find underneath. We saw lots of dogs wearing little boots in the snow. Mom thought they were a silly idea until ice balls started forming between my pads! They hurt!!! I would have to lie down and hold my feet up so that she could clean them out. I think that hurt her hands too, so now I have these sporty doggie boots.Don't laugh! It was also great fun to play sled dog and drag mom through the snow on her belly while the neighbors laughed-Hey I was a big hit! (She didn't think it was that great though) She wasn't very good at steering, so after a few near misses with cars and posts it was time for obedience training. I also like to chase the leaves and the geese. There are lots of those in Chicago.
